Optus and Arianespace, announced today in Sydney, Australia that the Optus 10 will be launched into geostationary transfer orbit mid-2013 by an Ariane 5. It will be the sixth satellite launched by Arianespace for the Australian operator.
International Launch Services announced that the ViaSat-1 satellite was successfully launched on a Proton/Breeze-M vehicle from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on October 19th 2011 at 18:48 GMT. After 9 hours and 12 minutes mission the sarellite was successfully deployed to the target orbit. Weighting 6740 kilos, ViaSat-1 will be the highest capacity satellite in the world providing multimedia Internet access over the North America.
Today at 16:21 CNST / 08:21 UTC Eutelsat W3C satellite was successful launched by a Long March 3B rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in China and within 3 hours from the separation performed partial deployment of the satellite’s solar arrays. Antennas deployment and orbit circularising manoeuvres will follow over the coming 10 days.
Today at approximately 06:36 EDT Anik F2 satellite experienced a technical anomaly resulting in loss of satellite services to its customers. Telesat is in control of the satellite and all indications are that it is healthy and can be returned to service.
